HARRISBURG – Rep. Stephenie Scialabba (R-Butler) announced today that $2.45 million in state funding, from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), was awarded to Cranberry and Jackson townships.

“I am grateful to have advocated for these funds, which will be of tremendous benefit to the communities I’m so honored to serve,” said Scialabba. “Residents will experience the positive long-term effects as a result of this significant boost.”

Cranberry Township is receiving $1.45 million to expand the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.

Jackson Township will see $1 million heading its way to assist with costs associated with renovating the Steamfitters Technology Center. Project tasks to be carried out include demolition, waste removal, cleanup, masonry, framing, woodwork, carpentry, thermal and moisture protection, fire protection, plumbing and others.

Funding for the project was authorized by lawmakers in the Capital Budget Project Itemization Act.

RACP is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. These projects have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues or other measures of economic activity. RACP projects are funded by the state and cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
